“Did you say you found £10?”
“No! I said I found a dead mouse!” If this sort of exchange seems familiar it may be because you are not hearing as well as you used to. If you look at “ten pounds” and “dead mouse” in the mirror as you say them, you will see how similar they look and how easy it could be to confuse them if you do not hear too well. One in seven people in our population has a hearing loss. For some this condition is inherited, for some it comes as the result of illness or accident, for some it comes as the result of exposure to noise, and for many it is just a natural part of the ageing process.
