The College’s Adult and Community Learning program (ACL) delivers a broad range of opportunities from introductory taster activities to short and longer courses with progression opportunities, where appropriate, from introductory level and is offered in 12 subject sector areas, with by far the highest number of enrolments at 45% in the Arts, Media and Publishing area.
The Adult and Community Learning mission is “To identify and support the provision through partnerships of high quality, personalised, lifelong learning opportunities that enable adults and families to develop skills for enjoying life and work, are responsive to individual and community learning needs and offer a framework of progression into further learning, voluntary or paid employment”.

We deliver English courses for speakers of other languages, catering for a diversity of student needs, from full-time courses for 16 to 18 year olds, to part-time community-based courses, vocational and evening classes. Our qualification courses range from Entry 1 to Level 2, covering speaking and listening, reading, and writing skills.
The faculty is also responsible for literacy and numeracy courses for adults, Functional Skills for 16-18 year olds and Access to Further Education courses.
