Hospitality Management was developed by Greenwich Community College in conjunction with AEG Europe and the University of Greenwich. It is designed to enable those working in or wishing to peruse a career in venue, events and hospitality management.
This Foundation degree is unique in the breadth of areas covered, it provides opportunities for staff and students to utilise an academic framework to develop and recognize skills gained in the workplace.
This programme is for students prepared to study at University level; it is not a practical skills-based programme. Students will explore topics in the following areas:

The Foundation Degree in Venues, Events and Hospitality Management comprises 240 credits, of which 120 are completed at Level 4 and 120 at Level 5.
The programme lasts for two academic years, delivered as a day time, part time programme. The year is divided into two semesters of 15 weeks each, with 60 credits taught in each semester.

You will need to be employed in an appropriate entertainment venue or willing to undertake work experience and be over 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 21 you will normally be expected to hold one GCE A level pass or equivalent. You must have Maths and English GCSE or equivalent grade A – C. You will complete an initial assessment and will need to demonstrate Level 2/3 literacy skills. You will also attend an interview with the course leader and a relevant prospective employer if you are seeking work experience.

You will be assessed through a variety of methods including: essay writing; presentations; research projects; portfolio compilation. Assessment is completed by your lecturers, through peer review and personal self-reflection. There are no timed examinations.
If you successfully complete the Foundation Degree in Venues, Events and Hospitality Management, you are guaranteed a place at the University of Greenwich for the final, third year of the Bachelor of Arts programme in one of the following disciplines:-
