The start of this academic year has brought more drama than any in the past. From rumours that one of the Student Governors charmed their way into into the Student Union Executive with tales of fast cars and big houses!!! to the landslide victory of last years Student Union President in this years elections to make it two years in a row. There is no doubt we are in for a hot, hot year here at GCC!
A2 Level students have been focussed so far this year. They have matured from last year and learnt that life is too short for mishaps and that relationships and flings are all too common symptons of failure.
On the other hand, however, AS and GCSE students can be seen canoodling in corridors, classrooms and if memory serves me well in staff offices (only joking!). Is history repeating itself? well we’ll just have to wait and see!
The Award Ceremony held here at the college a couple of weeks ago showcased the academic achievements of many students from all walks of life and backgrounds. It was a fun filled evening with students celebrating their success in complete harmony, something which GCC is well known for. Light but exotic refreshments were served at the end.
After all the excitement of the elections the Student Union Executive is now up and running and are in their first official week of office. They are set to attend a residential training session at Cranfield University for the 16, 17 and 18 of this month.
The SU President told The White Scarf:
“Hopefully we should all be able to go and learn new skills, learn to work with each other as a team and most importantly enjoy ourselves with the time we have away and come back refreshed and ready to tackle the academic year to come”
So the year looks good so far and it will look great in the time to come. So hang tight support the blog and carry on reading.
Reporting from the midst of all students the secret voice like the wind felt but not seen, this is me over and out.
