The college’s PR campaign to change government funding plans for ESOL students has won a national marketing award.
The FE First Silver Award was presented to Head of Marketing, Alec Brand at the FE First Award ceremony in Coventry by Asha Khemka OBE, Principal of Vision West Notts College.
The six months ‘Action for ESOL’ campaign included a silent and noisy protest, visits by Teresa Pearce MP and Ken Livingstone, a ‘teach in’ by the Houses of Parliament followed by the handing in of a national ‘Action for ESOL’ petition of over 20,000 signatures. The campaign also received national media coverage.
A delighted Mr Brand said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for Greenwich Community College and especially the ESOL students and staff who made their voices heard on a local and national level and affected change.”
