It was a day of celebration at the Plumstead Centre as students collected their A Level Exam results.
Our students achieved a 100% A2 Level pass rate in; Accounting, Business Studies, English Literature and Government & Politics and over 90% in; Chemistry, Maths, Psychology and Sociology. The overall A2 pass rate was 89%.
Amongst the success stories, was 24 year old Robert Long from Charlton who achieved an ‘A’ grade in English Literature.
Robert was injured in action in Afghanistan in July 2010 and subsequently lost his sight. As a result of his determination and commitment Robert plans to progress onto UCL or King’s College London.
Tutor Steve Whittingham, was full of praise of Robert’s achievement;
“Robert is an inspiration to fellow students, teachers and his support workers. As far as he is concerned, there are no barriers to his learning.”
It has been a busy year for Robert as he combined his revision, with training for the London Marathon earlier in the year in aid of Blind Veterans UK.
Other success stories include 18 year old Thi Kim Thu Nguyen from Woolwich, who achieved an A* in A2 Maths and an A in AS level Maths, Accounting and Further Maths. Thi has secured a place at London School of Economics.
Mubaric Muhammed, 19 from Plumstead, was also celebrating after achieving 2 A’s and a B and will be studying at Surrey University.
